Open Day and stuff

Well, LOADS has happened that should have been covered on here, but I will be honest with why it hasn't: I've been REALLY busy...and I kept forgetting to look at Blogger. Oh well! I'm here now so here goes, abbreviated style...

  • SWICA - Dragon: Steve, Scott and myself took part in further bocking training, learnt...a bit... and performed with the wonderful team of people that are involved with the Dragon production. We performed at Belle Vue Park in Newport and Raglan Castle in ...Raglan... OK! It was great fun, even though at Raglan I looked like I supported England where I was half white and half red. Anyway, BIG thanks to Steve Fletcher and the SWICA team (including Adrian for costumes and Marcus for painting and helping us get ready) and a MASSIVE thanks to Jeeves, Dom and the other bockers for the teaching they gave us, and letting us borrow £600 worth of gear on the hopes we wouldn't destroy it. (Which we didn't ^_^ oh, and I hope Dom's arm feels better soon - not my fault ¬_¬)
  • St Julian's Book Week Picnic - Epically hot day, but I survived. Note to self - NEVER tell children your name when they ask, because they don't shut up. Ever. And don't let them touch a contact ball...it equals death...with sauce on.
  • Riverfront Open Day - WOO! Yes! It went ok, even though we didn't get to do the theatre show like planned (maybe next time eh??), we still got in a little impromptu demo in the entrance hall which people seemed to like. And I also think it was a good experience for everyone who came along. HUGE epically big thank you to everyone that showed up: Deanna, Tia, Izzy, Stephen, Steven, Scott, and to Tom (YAY!), Owen (double yay!) and Jay (infinity times yay!). Was so nice of you all to show up and pitch in, it meant a lot.
  • On that note, a personal hoorah for having Tom come to circus these days, it's really nice to see a juggler around again.
  • The new website is up, the galleries should be sorted by the end of the week if I have time. They're programmed, just need to sort out the images and then we're all good with that. I've been testing in IE and Firefox, so if any of you use other browsers and see any problems...let me know. Same addy as the last: www.newportcircus.tk
  • This is turning into a massive post, appologies.
  • Ooo, we also now have a Twitter. Lord knows why, I needed to test something and set up an account using the circus email, but I figured I'd keep it around since it's "hip" and see if I update it more than this!
  • I will be attempting to run some things through the summer, hopefully (not like last year when I said I would then ended up in hospital >.<) I will set up a mailing list for that shortly and keep you all informed of happenings around Wales.
  • Anyone that has borrowed circus gear, can you please make sure it's returned by the end of term as I need it for various workshop things in the summer.
Right, I think that's everything for now. It's probably information overload, but hey! It's been too long since I did one of these things. And i'm also kinda tired. If anyone thinks of anything they need to say, drop me an email and i'll get it posted asap. Take care all!

Success and Thank you!

Well, a little bit late but the first thank you goes out to Jay and Steven for helping at another Five 4 Life event, it meant a lot that you guys showed up to help...and we got free bread eh?? But yes, a big thank you to you both for that. Also congratulations to you Jay for coming through the operation well ^_^ I'm so happy about it.

Now the biggie. A MASSIVE "I can never repay you guys enough" THANK YOU TO:

Steven
Scott
Izzy
Deanna
Deanna's partner in crime (I never got your name!!)
Yarrow
Aled

and then Jon and CJ.

The March of the Giants was a HUGE success, and it couldn't have happened without you there to help. Andy was extremely greatful again, and so am I. Thank you guys SO much for showing up and putting the help and effort in that you did.

The pictures are up on my FB but I'm going to try and get all the galleries finished on the website this week. Take care all!

Appologies

My deepest appologies to all this week for cancelling circus. I really haven't been too well since Tuesday afternoon...managed to pick up a flu-like bug in work. I guess these things happen. It should all be ok for this Tuesday though, so I will hopefully see you there.

I need some response soonish, would anyone be interested in doing walk around entertainment at another 5 for Life event? It's the 21st February (Sunday) and it's a few hours again (11-3 or something like that).

Let me know if you would wanna do it and what you would do. I'm only gonna agree to it if I have more than 3 of us because it's getting too stressful with such a small number. Thanks all.

New Site

Yes, to one and all of my little minions. We now have a new-ish website. The galleries are still under construction at the moment due to a) lack of time and b) a TERRIBLE internet connection. All will be resolved soon I hope. I am actually hoping to replace it with a streamlined flash site when I have a few days spare. Until then, this works just fine.

The address is: http://www.newportcircus.tk/ It stays a free domain name as long as we get 25 hits per 90 days. So pass if I ask you to pass it around a few mates PLEASE don't yell at me. I'm just trying to save cash.

For all of you wonderful people that help me, the main area you'd be wanting to check is the "Community Circus" section. There's an event calendar on there where I will update things cos it's easier than me trying to remember different dates right now. All I ask is that if you're interested, you drop me a mail and I shall endeavor to inform you as best and as soon as I can. I will also update whether a workshop session is cancelled or not (shouldn't be, but just incase).

Um...think thats it. Oh, I will be trying to update on here every week *crosses fingers* Just to try and get a bit more interest on the go. See y'all tomorrow hopefully x
